There, the Swiss are showing the new version 2.5 of Matrix, the software for their postproduction systems of the same name.
Matrix 2.5 offers many new features such as Dust Busting, Painting, Retiming, Wire Removal and On-the-fly Proxy Generation. All functions are now hardware-accelerated and can therefore largely be used in real time.
Matrix 2.5 imports Final Cut Pro projects using the XML Interchange Format. Using the timecode, keycode or frame nummber and the tape or reel name, the user can perform a complete autoconform. The data required for this comes from the DPX file headers and can be imported directly into the system via EDL and cut lists from Bluefish444 Symmetry, an Imagica scanner or an Arri scanner. Using the integrated BlueFish444 card in the Matrix systems, material can be captured from external video devices with the aid of a Batch List.
The new compositing module offers, among other things, an equally new retimer that creates new images for optimal quality on the basis of an analysis of the optical flow. The speed can be animated continuously. The new 3D environment supports the import of FBX files, including objects, lights and materials. The “Restoration Toolbox” offers automatic and manual tools for removing dust and scratches as well as for reconstructing defective image areas.
The new version of the system is available immediately and, depending on configuration, can be had from 100,000 euros.
