This Thursday, the new Bitfilm TV channel launches on the sevenload video platform, where everything revolves around digital film culture. Behind it is the company Bitfilm Networks, which also operates the annual Bitfilm Festival of digital film and the Bitfilm Club for film creatives.
Under the title “Inside,” Bitfilm TV will regularly broadcast specials on current Hollywood productions that rely on computer animation and digital effects. At launch, there is a special about the 3D film Shrek the Third from Dreamworks Animation. In addition to film clips, interviews with the directors and animation specialists can be seen.
Every Thursday, a new portrait of a selected digital film artist is to be shown on Bitfilm TV in future under the title “Masterminds.” These can be outstanding 3D animators or music video directors, but also gamers who are still unknown and shoot films with their computer games (Machinima Movies). The first edition presents the French Flash artist David Berlioz.
“Anyone who has good ideas, a computer and affordable software is now able to produce films at a professional level,” explains Bitfilm founder Aaron Koenig of Bitfilm TV’s approach. “The gap between big Hollywood cinema and the digital underground is becoming smaller and smaller. Just as with the Bitfilm Festival, which has been dealing with these topics since 2000, we also want to reach a broad audience at sevenload and inspire them for digital film culture.”
“We are very happy to have Bitfilm, the experts for digital film, on board at sevenload,” says sevenload founder Ibrahim Evsan. “We believe in creative talent and want to help with all our strength to make them big.”
Bitfilm TV will initially launch in a German version and is to be available in other languages “shortly.”
