According to preliminary figures, approximately 1.46 million visitors came to the first Simpsons cinema film, as media control reports. So far, only “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” (2.087 million visitors) and “Pirates of the Caribbean – At World’s End” (1.86 million viewers) had a better opening weekend in 2007.
The yellow family from Springfield even takes away Harry Potter’s magical powers. In his fifth adventure “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, the Hogwarts student is in second place in the charts with almost 642,000 visitors. “Shrek the Third” lines up in third position.
In the following ranks are “Live Free or Die Hard”, “Death Proof”, “Next”, “Ocean’s 13” and “Pirates of the Caribbean – At World’s End”, each falling one position.
Alongside the Simpsons, “Beste Zeit” is the only new entry in the top 10. With almost 22,000 viewers, the German coming-of-age comedy is in ninth place. It was directed by shooting star Marcus H. Rosenmüller, who delivered his first two films with “Grave Decisions” (2006) and “Heavyweights” (2007). Anna Maria Sturm and Rosalie Thomass can be seen in the leading roles.
In total, more than 2.67 million cinema-goers were guests in German cinemas this weekend.
