Legal music downloads grow by 37 percent

The boom in legal music downloads continues. In the third quarter of 2007 alone, 9.3 million digital products were downloaded from the Internet, media control reports. "The past quarter was the strongest single quarter in history," says Ulrike Altig, managing director of media control. The increase corresponds to 37.1 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.

500,000 watch “Tour de France” on Sat.1

Since Thursday, private channel Sat.1 has taken over the broadcasting rights to the 94th "Tour de France". With an average of 500,000 viewers aged three and over, the Berliners started the second half of the cycling tour. According to media control, the market share of the eleventh stage was 4.7 percent.

Sat.1 changes its programme schedule

After the programme schedule is changed at the end of August, the share of information programmes on Sat.1 will be 23 percent. At the last license renewal by LMK (Rhineland-Palatinate State Center for Media and Communication) in 2000, Sat.1 had an information share of 19 percent. From the channel's perspective, there is therefore no reason for the license as a full programme to be at risk.

The relaunch of the RTL.de website is apparently being well received by Internet users. This is demonstrated by the official access figures from IVW. According to them, RTL.de achieved a monthly average of 417 million page impressions (PIs) in the first half of 2007, an increase of 18 percent compared with the same period in the previous year.
