SIGGRAPH 2007: Marketplace for intellectual property

For investors and developers, the “Intellectual Property (IP) Marketplace” takes place for the first time this year as part of SIGGRAPH. The event is intended to help facilitate business processes in the acquisition and sale of technological know-how.

The aim of the “IP Marketplace” is to facilitate for representatives of the CG and HCI industry the initiation of business contacts and the acquisition of technological know-how as well as patents, blueprints, software and circuits, but also trademarks and copyrighted material. “Until now there has been no effective possibility to bring together IP owners and companies that want to use their intellectual property commercially”, explains Joe Marks, conference management of SIGGRAPH 2007.

For a nominal participation fee, investors and IP owners can publish their sales and licensing offers through the SIGGRAPH website for registered users. In addition, offers are also posted in printed form on site at SIGGRAPH. Potential buyers can thus personally meet the owners during SIGGRAPH for offers that interest them.
