From August 8-12, following visitor records at the castles and parks of Höchst, Mainz and Bad Soden, the short film festival will be a guest in Hofheim for 5 days. Since the non-profit association that organizes the festival comes from Hofheim, more is offered here than in any other festival city.
Different film programmes will again be offered every day open air at the Old Moated Castle. As usual, each of the short film programmes is structured so that there is something for everyone, from exciting to touching, from informative to funny. The comedies are always presented at the end of the evening, so that the audience is guaranteed to go home in a good mood.
One of the highlights is the traditional celebrity evening with the presentation of the MainTaunus District Film Prize on Saturday, August 11 from 20:00 at the Old Moated Castle. The closing event on Sunday, August 12, also from 20:00 at the Old Moated Castle, should not be missed either. All audience-favorite films will be shown there. These are the winners of the preceding festival days, which the audience declared its favorite films by ballot. These enter the final for the SKODA – Short Film Prize, which will be awarded in Wiesbaden on August 18.
New this year is an additional festival tent that will stand in the square between the museum and Café Tass and offers the opportunity to see short films already at 19:00 as well. Good for all those for whom the open-air screening is too late, or who have missed a screening. The film tent also serves as alternative quarters in bad weather for the open-air screenings planned at the Old Moated Castle.
Café Tass functions as the festival café – that is also new. Here there is an opportunity to spend the time between film screenings, meet directors or exchange opinions about the films.
The children’s programme at Shorts at Moonlight is also having its premiere this year. It consists of 1 hour of film programme each, composed of 8 short films. The children’s programme on Saturday at 16:00 in the film tent has no age restriction. This screening can therefore also be attended with very small children. On Sunday, the children’s programme is intended for children aged 6 and older. Siblings are of course also warmly welcome at any time.
Hofheim will thus experience an abundance of short films that is both qualitative and quantitatively high-quality, on a scale still unknown until now.
Because German short films are among the best in the world and were again honored with many Oscar nominations this year.
