This year there is once again a film festival of Werbe- & Medien-Akademie Marquardt. For its seven-year anniversary, however, it is being given a completely new face. “WAM Film Night” became XXS – The Dortmund Short Film Festival. Under this name, it will provide the finest cinematic entertainment at Dortmund’s CineStar on November 10. XXS is organised by students from the academy who have joined together to form Bildrausch Kurzfilmfestival e.V. Thomas Euler, Deputy Chairman of the association, explains: “With XXS, we want to establish a short-film festival that is to become a flagship for regional film culture.”
From its concept, XXS is a little reminiscent of an Oscar ceremony in miniature: From hundreds of submissions from all over the world, ten films are nominated for the “small film prize”. It is awarded in gold, silver and bronze by a high-profile specialist jury and is endowed with 1500, 1000 and 500 euros. Anyone who does not want to miss this opportunity can still submit their film until September 24 or, as a visitor, simply secure a ticket in good time.
