TransMagic R7 Expands CAD Conversion

TransMagic R7 adds surface repair, CAD-to-point-cloud comparison, axis-specific scaling, and Direct3D acceleration.

TransMagic R7 adds functions intended to accelerate data transfer between CAD systems and improve day-to-day operation. It also introduces updated interface versions and an Outlook-style user interface with dynamic resizing and editable toolbars.

MagicSurface identifies design faults and missing surfaces. When legacy data, neutral formats, or corrupted files contain gaps, it generates new surfaces from the remaining boundary curves and closes the holes, creating solids from incomplete imported datasets.

Split Surface and Trim Surface modify existing geometry against neighbouring geometry. An edge, surface, or complete solid can serve as the cutting or trimming object.

CAD-model comparison with point clouds, including measurements from coordinate-measuring systems, calculates and displays the deviation between each measured point and the analytical model.

Axis-specific scaling extends the existing uniform scale operation with separate factors for X, Y, and Z. Mould makers can use this to account for different shrinkage rates in non-homogeneous materials such as fibre-reinforced plastics.

TransMagic now supports Direct3D as an alternative to OpenGL. CAMTEX reported performance improvements of up to 400 percent on graphics hardware where Direct3D was faster. The application also assigns automatic names to unnamed bodies when imported multibody solids contain several volumes without explicit labels.

“Conversion errors are often detected only later in manufacturing, causing time-consuming and expensive rework that can even delay product launches,” said CAMTEX managing director Steffen Volkmar. “TransMagic R7 reduces those risks by identifying and correcting faults during import.”
