Born in Kiel, Schulze worked as a production manager on ZDF and ORB productions while studying literature, film, and television at TU Berlin and FU Berlin. In 1996 he joined Berlin-based Joachim von Vietinghoff Filmproduktion as a dramaturge and later became head of drama development. He moved to Janus Film in Berlin as a producer in 1998 and had worked there as an executive producer since 2004. His film and television credits include “Der Handymörder” and “Die Blendung” for Sat.1, the feature film “Motown,” “Das beste Stück,” two “Sexup” films, “29…und noch Jungfrau,” and the series “18 – Allein unter Mädchen” for ProSieben. At Askania Media, Schulze is currently working on development of the sitcom “Paul (fast) allein zu Haus” for RTL.
Askania Media was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of Bavaria Film, with a 90-percent holding, and RBB Media, with 10 percent. From 1998 until June 2007, it produced “Schloss Einstein,” described as the world’s longest-running weekly children’s fiction series, which will continue under licence in Erfurt from the following month. From 1999 to 2005, the company produced the German Film Award “Lola” ceremonies and television galas. Alongside various television films, Askania Media has produced Berlin episodes of the crime series “Tatort” since 2006. Under the “Pimento” label, Askania also produces non-fiction programming.
