Autodesk is one of the founding members of the recently established German Sustainable Building Council. The initiative, supported by architects, engineers, scientists and companies, makes an active contribution to the current discussion about global warming and energy conservation. It sets itself the task of finding and promoting paths and solutions that realize the goals of sustainable construction. The entire life cycle of a building is at the center – from planning through execution to use. As a central instrument for promoting these goals, the German Sustainable Building Council will award a quality mark for outstanding buildings from next year. The certificate follows the agreements of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development’s Round Table on Sustainable Building.

“Compliance with sustainability criteria is essential in every phase of a building. One of our decisive tasks is therefore to provide planning tools that make it possible to build more environmentally friendly buildings that at the same time conserve resources and are economically efficient,” says Abraham K. Koenig, AEC Product Manager for EMEA at Autodesk.

Under the umbrella of the World Green Building Council, the German Sustainable Building Council recognizes the very high environmental standards in Germany by international comparison. In order to maintain this high standard and at the same time further advance sustainable construction by promoting the exchange of opinions and experience, the Council is in constant dialogue with its members. “The German Sustainable Building Council is on the way to becoming the leading organization in Germany whose members substantially intensify the sustainable construction and operation of buildings and design living spaces to be fit for the future,” emphasizes Anna Braune, Head of the Office of the German Sustainable Building Council. Autodesk will therefore continue to support the foundations of sustainable planning with special solutions in future. Through special tools for analyzing, calculating and assessing buildings, the company thus effectively enables more sustainable planning.
