Paramount Home Entertainment has appointed Dr Andreas Kelz Vice President and Managing Director GSA (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) with immediate effect. Dr Kelz has already headed the German branch of the American film giant as Managing Director for five years, as well as the branches in Austria and Switzerland.
Career
After studying business administration at the University of Erlangen and study stays at Columbia University NY and Aston University, Birmingham/England, Dr Kelz earned his doctorate at the Chair of Trade, Marketing and International Marketing on the subject “The Global Brand – Backgrounds to Success, Strategies”. His first entry into professional life was as assistant to the Management Board of the cosmetics division of Henkel in Düsseldorf. After various marketing and sales positions at both Henkel and Tempo/Schickedanz, from 1994 he took over the position of Marketing Director at Coty/Benckiser in Mainz and then worked in Prague as General Manager for Benckiser/Coty Worldwide Cosmetics Group New York.
From the year 2000, in the position of Managing Director and member of the management at Munich-based VCL Film und Medien AG, Dr Kelz successfully marketed films such as ‘Terminator 2’ or Woody Allen’s ‘The Curse of the Jade Scorpion’, but also Scandinavian films such as ‘Flickering Lights’.
Additional activities
Dr Kelz was a lecturer in export studies at IHK Bayreuth, a consultant for the comparative examination of Japanese/Asian management strategies at the Institute for Export Research at the University of Erlangen and Nuremberg, as well as a lecturer in International Marketing and Aikido Martial Arts Trainer at Aston University.
