Bitfilm and 20th Century Fox Germany are calling for entries to the film competition “What do you stand up for?” To mark the cinema release of the new Robert Redford film “Lions for Lambs” with Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise and Robert Redford, film contributions are being sought from idealists who – like the protagonists of the film – are fighting for a better world.
What are you fighting for? What do you live for? What do you stand up for? Participants are to answer these questions in a short video. Whether it is a simple statement in front of the camera or an ambitious 3D animation of the kind known from the Bitfilm Festival, anything is possible; it is the attitude that counts.
The films, up to 90 seconds long, can be submitted through the Bitfilm website. The submission deadline is at the same time the cinema release of the ambitious political drama: November 8, 2007.
Participants are to express their thoughts on an important subject in today’s world that moves them. This could be: hunger in the Third World, the effects of climate change, the oppression of women in Islamic cultures, the genocide in Darfur, the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, a better immigration policy, etc.
From among the submissions, Bitfilm and 20th Century Fox will select the best films for a vote among Internet users that will run until the end of November. The winner receives professional video-editing software from AVID. In addition, 10 DVDs of “The Last King of Scotland” and 5 USB sticks in the “Lions for Lambs” design will be raffled among the participants.
