Ten female and male students from the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) have won! On October 30, an American school bus with the Mobile Movie School is coming to Munich for them. Under the direction of Verena Kraemer and Manuel Francescon, the participants learn professional filming with a mobile phone in a one-day workshop, in theory and practice. In the bus, they travel to various filming locations in Munich that are intended to inspire the participants for their Mobile Movie. At the end of the Mobile Movie School, the participants have shot their own Mobile Movie. The films can then be seen on the Internet at http://www.mobilemovie.de.
Video designer Verena Kraemer teaches in the field of Video & Animation at the university of applied sciences in Nuremberg and has taken part in international film festivals with her short films. Comedy specialist Manuel Francescon (Alles in Ordnung, PRO7) has produced his own short films since 1991 and works as an actor, director and also as a producer for various television broadcasters, public and private.
In addition to the participants and instructors, actor and 2007 Grimme Award winner Oktay Özdemir (Knallhart, Wut, Schwarze Schafe, among others) will also be there. Özdemir is not only a source of inspiration behind the mobile-phone camera, but, if desired, also a performer in the films that are made with the ten young creative people during the Mobile Movie School.
Students from colleges and universities in Germany could apply for the draw for the Mobile Movie School, which is supported by O2. Five female students from the Screenwriting, Camera and Advertising degree programmes at the HFF were among them. The decision was made by lot.
Mobile Movies are just becoming a film genre of their own with specific possibilities and are represented at many film festivals. Oktay Özdemir, who is currently in front of the camera in Africa, is particularly looking forward to this Mobile Movie School: “I am very excited about the ideas for the Mobile Movies and the creative filmmakers in Munich!”
