The jury in its statement: „Schönfelder does not conceal the desolation of the location. He moves his instrument, the camera, like an invisible fellow player whose eye shifts focal points and creates new connections. And he does all this without self-confidently basking in his own brilliance, but always puts himself at the service of the story.“
The Förderpreis Deutscher Film Hof, donated by HypoVereinsbank, Bavaria Film and Bayerischer Rundfunk, is endowed with 10,000 euros. For the third time this year, it was awarded for an outstanding individual achievement in a feature film during the Hof International Film Festival.
The jury members were Jörg Adolph (director/editor), Christian Becker (producer, Managing Director Rat Pack Filmproduktion) and Hanns-Georg Rodek (film editor Die Welt).
„Zeit der Fische“ is Gregor Schönfelder’s first cinematography on a feature-length cinema film, a production by Luna-Film GmbH in co-production with the University of Film and Television „Konrad Wolf“, Potsdam-Babelsberg, SWR and MDR.
