Two market leaders from different industries have agreed on close cooperation: the world’s largest steel producer, ArcelorMittal, and Nemetschek AG, the leading company in planning, construction and building management software. Nemetschek will incorporate part of ArcelorMittal’s Predesign software into its integrated software packages for the modelling, planning and construction ofstructures.

Both companies want to stimulate innovation in the construction industry through the continuous pursuit of cost-effective solutions and opportunities to increase productivity. Represented by ArcelorMittal Steel Solutions & Services and the Commercial Sections division, ArcelorMittal is a leading driving force in the

improvement of steel-based materials and components. With products ranging from Design2Cost and Round-Trip Engineering to automated construction and project management, Nemetschek is the market leader in construction software.

The companies have agreed to develop campaigns for the cross-industry promotion of their respective technologies – through the integration of the Pre-Design

Software Tools, through advertising among their respective customers and interested professionals, and through marketing activities. ArcelorMittal and Nemetschek will jointly use their

technologies in the areas of planning, cost estimation and Eurocode regulations.

“ArcelorMittal has extensive research experience in the field of detailed planning methodology for various steel components, such as cellular beams,

composite beams and floor systems, which have great practical benefit for engineers who want to plan with them,” says Jacques Hoffmann, Manager of the Long Carbon Europe Research Centre.

Bruno Theret, Head of Global Marketing BCS at ArcelorMittal, adds: “Knowledge transfer promotes the best possible use of steel by as

many customers, architects, planners and steel contractors worldwide as possible. The international network of the two companies ArcelorMittal and Nemetschek is a guarantee

of mutual advertising and increased exposure of both companies. This partnership will open up access for Nemetschek customers to solutions and

‘niche products’ from ArcelorMittal. It should also promote the use of steel in construction and benefit the entire steel industry.”

“ArcelorMittal preferred Nemetschek’s SCIA steel design software to other solutions and decided to use this software to support the sales branches that help architects and engineers integrate steel solutions into their projects,” says Dr. J.P. Rammant, Head of the Nemetschek Engineering Group. ArcelorMittal thereby recognizes the superior quality of Nemetschek’s planning software for steel construction.

Ernst Homolka, Chief Financial Officer and spokesman of the Executive Board of Nemetschek AG, adds: “This cooperation is an example of how leading companies in industry can drive technological innovations in a particular sector, such as construction. This cooperation will promote the expansion of the two

companies into new areas and international markets.”
