DVS, Digital Video Systems GmbH, presents the DI workstation CLIPSTER® with internal RAID-5 storage for the first time. This combination of CLIPSTER® and RAID-5 ensures the highest level of data security when processing image data. Even if a hard drive fails, complete reproduction of the data contained on it is guaranteed. By integrating RAID-5 storage into the high-performance DI workstation CLIPSTER®, DVS offers its customers protection against data loss and the associated downtime.
Groupe Transatlantic has been successfully using products from DVS for more than five years. The growth of the French company now requires an expansion of the infrastructure by two CLIPSTER® systems with internal RAID-5 storage. Two subsidiaries of Groupe Transatlantic are now optimizing their workflow with the powerful combination of CLIPSTER® and RAID-5.
At Medialab Technology, the specialist for advertising film post-production, the additionally acquired CLIPSTER® forms a high-performance bridge between two Spirit 2K datacines, two Pandora Pogles and various Flame Linux HD workstations. The RAID-5 system integrated into CLIPSTER® for the first time protects the data used against hard drive failure. The high bandwidth of the DI workstation allows Medialab Technology to produce commercials quickly. Through Remote Zoom & Pan in real time and VTR emulation, CLIPSTER® enables the French post-production house to respond flexibly to customer wishes.
The second subsidiary, Transatlantic Video, the leading service provider for feature-film restoration in France, also benefits from CLIPSTER’s real-time capability. As the heart of the restoration workflow, CLIPSTER® emulates a VTR in real time. With CLIPSTER®, image data is recorded from a telecine and immediately made available for processing. The DI workstation is used for error detection and classification, restoration using MTI-Correct workstations, and final quality control. Here too, Transatlantic Video’s high-quality film material is protected by RAID-5.
