On Wednesday, November 14, 2007, Kinofest Lünen invites to a reading by acting legend Günter Lamprecht at Cineworld. “Berlin Alexanderplatz”, “Die Ehe der Maria Braun”, “Das Boot”, collaboration with Zadek, Ionesco, Piscator – Günter Lamprecht is one of the greatest German theatre and film actors of the 20th century. Kinofest director Mike Wiedemann, who produced the film “MILO BARUS – der stärkste Mann der Welt” with Günter Lamprecht in the title role in 1981: “A heartfelt wish is coming true, my old friend and colleague Günter Lamprecht is coming to our Kinofest in Lünen.”
Günter Lamprecht appeared in over 150 film and television productions and received countless awards, including the Golden Camera twice (1978 and 2000), the German Actors Award in 1982, the merit places of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2002 and most recently the honorary award of the Hessian state president at the 2007 Hessian Film Award. In Lünen, Lamprecht reads from his long-awaited second book “Ein höllisches Ding, das Leben” (Kiepenheuer & Witsch).
Here he now tells not only of his unique television, film and theatre career, but also brings the oppressive Germany of the post-war years back to life. He reports on his collaboration with Piscator, Ionesco and Peter Zadek. We learn in what way Jean Genet confronts him and how he tours the Ruhr region with Robert Siodmak.
In the 70s, Lamprecht became the proletarian hero of German film and television with “Stellenweise Glatteis”, “Rückfälle” and “Das Brot des Bäckers”. Then came the encounter with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, which gave him the role of his life: Franz Biberkopf in “Berlin Alexanderplatz”, which, after an elaborate technical restoration, was shown in German cinemas for the first time this year – the 25th year of Fassbinder’s death. A tragic event shook Günter Lamprecht’s private life in November 1999, when he and his partner Claudia Amm were seriously injured by a gunman in Bad Reichenhall.
