One year after the 1st MobileMonday in Düsseldorf, the global “Open Source Community” of the mobile industry has, in the organisers’ view, successfully established itself in Germany. To mark the anniversary, the Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich chapters are holding a national summit meeting on December 3, 2007. The Mobile specialist group in the BVDW is involved as an associated partner, as are various industry heavyweights, including Google, Qualcomm, T-Mobile and Sun, which will meet promising start-ups and innovators.
Under the motto “Mobile Trends 2008”, the range of topics extends from current platforms such as Android and iPhone through mobile applications to concrete food for thought from recognised bloggers in the mobile scene. “We have successfully positioned the international event platform in Germany,” explains Mark Wächter, one of the co-founders of the German offshoot and chairman of the Mobile specialist group in the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW).
A new chapter is to expand MobileMonday at the beginning of next year. “In February 2008, we will launch with the 4th chapter in the ‘Mobile Web 2.0’ stronghold of Berlin,” holds out Daniel Melter, also a board member of the association MobileMonday Germany e.V., the umbrella organisation of all chapters in Germany.
