ZDF Director General Markus Schächter came to this conclusion in a review of the programme focus week from November 5 to 11, 2007. In doing so, ZDF had made a contribution “to the necessary dialogue of cultures” and “set an accent in the social discussion with an overall remarkable response”, Schächter said.

Around 31 percent of all television viewers, corresponding to 23.04 million people, had contact with the programmes of the theme week. With the 29 programmes involved in the focus, the main ZDF programme achieved an average market share of 10.4 percent (1.68 million viewers).

The theme week is viewed predominantly positively by the audience. 81 percent of respondents in a representative FORSA study rate the ZDF focus week as “very good” or “rather good”. The concept received the highest approval, at 84 percent, from the 30- to 59-year-old age group.
