Nemetschek Presents New Software Generation for Highly Efficient Planning Process

Nemetschek’s trade fair appearance at Build IT 2008 in Berlin is entirely devoted to Allplan BIM 2008. The new 3D planning software for Building Information Modeling (BIM) is distinguished by its unique building structure, which enables a practice-oriented, topological division of buildings into levels and storeys

As an open, integrated system, Allplan BIM 2008 supports the future formats IFC and PDF in addition to traditional exchange formats. Visitors to Build IT will gain an insight into the new software generation from February 19 to 23 in Hall 10.2, Stand 120.

Until now, integrated processing of projects and the exchange of building data have been rather rare. Nemetschek addresses this with its component-oriented CAD software Allplan BIM 2008, which enables the overall process of optimised planning, execution and management of buildings. In addition to creating architectural models, the interdisciplinary planning tool can also determine quantities and costs. Specialist planners can enrich the model with data for heating, ventilation, sanitation and electrical systems. With the help of assistants, users can set up projects with just a few clicks and, on the basis of the new building structure,

organise data in a practice-oriented way analogous to the topological structure of a building.

Moreover, BIM does not mean choosing between working in 2D or 3D. Allplan BIM 2008 makes it possible to switch freely between 2D construction and 3D planning depending on the service phase.

Examples of Efficient BIM: Design2Cost and Round-Trip Engineering An essential component for efficient BIM is the TÜV-certified cost-planning and AVA solution Design2Cost. For this purpose, Allplan BIM Architecture, Allplan IBD and Allplan BCM are easily connected in order to obtain a well-founded specification of services including a quantity framework for cost calculation and tendering.

In addition to early cost control, Allplan BIM 2008 also enables work across different specialist areas. Nemetschek Round-Trip Engineering provides a perfect link between CAD and structural calculation, so that time-consuming multiple entries are a thing of the past. In addition to an architectural model with integrated quantities and costs, a structural model is also created. The structural model from Allplan is used in SCIA ESA PT to create the structural-analysis model and carry out the structural calculations. The results can be imported back into Allplan and used for building optimisation. Of course, the results of the

finite-element calculations are available for the automatic creation of reinforcement plans.

Flexible Data Exchange Thanks to IFC and PDF

In addition to traditional exchange formats, Nemetschek relies on open,

freely available and manufacturer-independent future formats such as PDF and IFC.

These support the optimised flow of information and ensure that

friction losses are avoided.

IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) has proven itself as a powerful standard format for the intelligent exchange of 3D planning data in construction. Component-oriented building models can be easily exchanged via it between software applications from different manufacturers.

The main advantage of PDF export lies in its flexibility. Since most offices work with the free Adobe Reader, data provided as PDFs can be viewed without further investment in special readers or proprietary viewers. Furthermore, employees can enter comments and thus contribute to the efficient planning process.
