ProSieben grows in the young target groups

With a mix of gripping blockbusters, outstanding show productions, strong afternoon formats and exciting sporting events, ProSieben recorded a clear growth compared with the previous year in the target groups of viewers aged 14 to 49 and 14 to 29.

The channel ended 2007 with an annual market share of 11.7 percent in the commercially relevant target group (2006: 11.6). ProSieben achieved a growth of plus 0.6 percentage points among 14- to 29-year-olds and reached an annual market share of 17.4 percent (2006: 16.8) in this target group. The channel therefore remains the unbeaten number one in its core target group (RTL: 16.8 percent).

The top blockbusters of the year: Among others, “Die Hard with a Vengeance” delighted 33.6 percent of 14- to 49-year-olds (ages 14-29: 36.6), Johnny Depp as the unique pirate in “Pirates of the Caribbean” fascinated 31.6 percent (ages 14-29: 39.2), 28.7 percent of the commercially relevant target group (ages 14-29: 48.7) took relationship tips from “Hitch – the Date Doctor”, alias Will Smith, “The Punisher” was watched by 26.3 percent (ages 14-29: 38.2), and Uma Thurman in “Kill Bill Vol 2.” by 26.2 percent (ages 14-29: 38.2).

Strong entertainment with exciting show events: Stefan Raab and “Schlag den Raab” proved unbeatable in audience favour – with a market share of up to 31.5 percent in the commercially relevant target group. Raab is also highly popular in the young target group of 14- to 29-year-olds, with a market share of up to 40.9 percent. Up to 29.8 percent of 14- to 49-year-olds wanted to know whom Heidi Klum crowned “Germany’s next Topmodel”, and in ProSieben’s core target group the show event even achieved a market share of up to 50.2 percent.

Strong ratings not only in the evening: Successful in the afternoon with ProSieben formats such as “We are Family! So lebt Deutschland.”, “SAM” or “Lebe Deinen Traum! Jetzt wird alles anders” and market shares of up to 25.6 percent in the commercially relevant target group and up to 35.8 percent among 14- to 29-year-olds.

A sporting 2007: With boxing and football, ProSieben successfully expanded its programme offering in 2007 – with “ProSieben Fight Night”, the channel delighted up to 43.4 percent of 14- to 49-year-old viewers and achieved market shares of up to 51.3 percent in its core target group. ProSieben demonstrated football expertise with the broadcast of FC Bayern’s home games in the UEFA Cup and was rewarded: With market shares of up to 21.2 percent, the season’s most successful UEFA Cup broadcasts among the commercially relevant target group ran on ProSieben.
