Apple shipped 2.319 million computers in its first fiscal quarter of 2008, up 44 percent in units and 47 percent in revenue year over year. It sold 22.121 million iPods, up five percent in units and 17 percent in revenue, and 2.315 million iPhones.
CEO Steve Jobs called it the company’s best quarter, with record revenue and profit, and cited the MacBook Air, Mac Pro and iTunes Movie Rentals in the first weeks of 2008.
Chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer said revenue grew 35 percent to US$9.6 billion, operational cash flow was nearly US$2.7 billion and available cash exceeded US$18.4 billion. Apple forecast fiscal Q2 2008 revenue of US$6.8 billion and diluted earnings per share of US$0.94.
