Til Schweiger’s current box-office success had attracted more than three million cinema-goers in Germany. The romantic comedy, starring Schweiger and Nora Tschirner, was praised for its dialogue and comic timing.
Filming took place in Berlin from April to May 2007; post-production was completed half a year later and the film was recorded to 35 mm. Schweiger wanted to edit with a colour-corrected version, so the look was established during daily rushes. Editing ran in parallel with shooting, and VFX work on individual scenes began one month after production ended.
The effects included added 3D glass fragments during a collapsing glass roof, stabilising a broken wall, computer-generated stone fragments to damage a car, and protecting the young Anna in a scene involving a heavy magnet and braces. The digital-intermediate process began with 2K scanning of selected takes in September, followed by online finishing, final grading and 35 mm film-out on an Arri Laser in October. The premiere print was ready by the end of November.
