ZDF director general Markus Schächter said the supervisory board’s decision maintained continuity as the broadcaster addressed its digital transition.
Hans Joachim Suchan, born in Gießen in 1946, joined ZDF as administrative director on 1 April 1999. He had previously served as a state secretary, head of the Hesse State Chancellery and member of the ZDF Television Council. Schächter credited him with the broadcaster’s financial planning.
Andreas Bereczky, born in Budapest in 1953, became ZDF production director in January 2004 after serving as managing director of the T-Systems Systems Integration service line. Schächter cited his production and information-technology experience in relation to the broadcaster’s technical transition.
