The premiere program begins at 5 p.m. with a warm-up at the CINECITTA Ocean Bar, followed by the German premiere of U2 3D at 7 p.m. in the Nuremberg IMAX. Described as the first digital live-performance film in 3D, the production places viewers inside a stadium audience. Footage was captured in South America during the final part of U2’s Vertigo tour.
A premiere party begins at 9 p.m. with U2 tribute band Seven Towers, DJs and video artists. A second IMAX screening is scheduled for 9 p.m. Tickets cost €9.90 and are available from CINECITTA box offices and online at http://www.cinecitta.de, including the party and supporting program. Evening-box-office availability depends on advance sales.
