Hamburg-based Bigpoint GmbH, a leading provider of browser-based online games (browser games), is launching the new multiplayer online game “Gladiatoren II” after a successful beta phase. With its focus on 3D real-time action, “Gladiatoren II” continues the success of its predecessor “Gladiatoren”.
“Gladiatoren II” takes its theme from the successful long-term strategy game “Gladiatoren”, but offers technological innovations. Players control their own gladiator with keyboard and mouse and fight heroic battles against real opponents in this action-packed multiplayer game. For the first time, the battle arena can be expanded to full screen size – a real pleasure for gaming fans, as the 3D look and graphical details come into their own at full size. Unlike its text-based predecessor, all the gameplay in “Gladiatoren II” takes place in a 2D/3D environment with real-time action.
“Our long-term strategy game “Gladiatoren” has always been an enduring favourite in our games portfolio. It is a successful title that has already attracted many imitators. For us, that was the reason to rework the game technologically and graphically and present it in a completely new form. Classic strategy games tend to focus on tactical action. With “Gladiatoren II”, we have succeeded in bringing a great deal of action directly into the battle arena. For example, the individual missions that players carry out also take place directly in the arenas, not just as additional text,” says Heiko Hubertz, founder and Managing Director of Bigpoint, describing the new game.
Mass spectacles in multiple arenas – from Web 2.0 to Game 2.0
For the first time, Bigpoint is also presenting an arena editor as an extra feature, allowing players to design their own arena.
Several players can thus compete against each other simultaneously in arenas they have created themselves and fight to become the highest-ranked gladiator.. The character controls are very intuitive, and the gameplay turns the battles and animal hunts into a real mass spectacle. Every player can jump straight in, and numerous weapons create complex gameplay depth with long-term motivation revolving around intrigue, power and politics.
