Well-known German actress Martina Gedeck has already impressed in film productions such as “Das Leben der Anderen”, “Elementarteilchen” and “Der gute Hirte”.
She was born in Munich, spent her childhood in Landshut and Berlin and studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar at Berlin’s Hochschule der Künste. Her stage appearances have included Frankfurt’s Theater am Turm, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and Schauspielhaus Basel.
Her film career began while she was still studying, when she played the lead in both Dominik Graf’s television film “Die Beute” and his cinema film “Tiger, Löwe, Panther”. She has since appeared in more than 50 productions spanning almost every film genre, including “Der bewegte Mann” by Sönke Wortmann, “Stadtgespräch” by Rainer Kaufmann, “Rossini” by Helmut Dietl, “Das Leben ist eine Baustelle” by Wolfgang Becker, “Bella Martha” by Sandra Nettelbeck, “Das Leben der Anderen” by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, “Elementarteilchen” by Oskar Röhler and “Der gute Hirte” by Robert de Niro.
Martina Gedeck has received numerous film and television awards, including the Bavarian Television Award, the German Film Award, the Adolf Grimme Award, the German Film Critics’ Award, the Golden Camera and the German Television Award. In 2003, she was a jury member at the Berlin International Film Festival. Martina Gedeck is a member of the German Film Academy and the German Academy of Performing Arts.
DELFINE UND WALE 3D – NOMADEN DER MEERE takes viewers to the breathtaking coral reefs of the Bahamas and the warm waters of the Kingdom of Tonga, showing the last surviving nomads of the seas at close range. From March 13, 2008, the film will be shown in IMAX cinemas in Berlin, Nuremberg and Sinsheim, in Cinemagnum 3D cinemas and in other digital 3D cinemas nationwide. Thanks to the overwhelming IMAX(R) cinema technology and images captured in 3D for the first time, the film shows audiences the animals’ lives and habitat as never before. Come within touching distance of dolphins and beluga whales. Witness a mother’s love for her calf and experience – and hear – male humpback whales at close range. Meet the largest dolphin, the orca, king of the seas, and the gentle manatee. The documentary passionately advocates protecting these animals and gives viewers, for the first time in 3D, the opportunity for an immediate encounter with small and large whales, such as humpbacks, orcas and other dolphins. Capturing the footage for “DELFINE UND WALE 3D: Nomaden der Meere” took a good three years. Filming, which began in June 2004, required no fewer than 12 expeditions and 600 hours underwater.
“DELFINE UND WALE 3D: Nomaden der Meere” was produced by 3D Entertainment and McKinney Underwater Productions. In Germany, the film is distributed by 3D Entertainment’s distribution division together with Fantasia Film, in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS).
Produced and directed by the Mantello brothers and presented by Jean-Michel Cousteau, DELFINE UND WALE 3D will have its European premiere on March 10, 2008, at IMAX 3D Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.
