At stand D90, architects and engineers can learn about developments in CAD, including how Allplan BIM 2008 allows them to move freely between 2D drafting and 3D planning according to the current project phase. The stand will also demonstrate the exchange of information among construction participants using the vendor-neutral PDF and IFC formats.
At ACS, Nemetschek will present Allplan BIM 2008, a component-oriented 3D planning system for Building Information Modeling. It can create architectural models and calculate quantities and costs. Specialist planners can add heating, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical information to the model. The software establishes a basis for all participants to receive comprehensive building data and pass it on without media discontinuities.
BIM does not require users to choose between working in 2D and 3D. Depending on the project and service phase, they can switch freely between the two approaches or use them in parallel.
For engineers, Allplan BIM 2008 provides a complete solution for formwork and reinforcement planning. Its capabilities are particularly apparent in custom projects with complex geometry. New ring and spiral reinforcement functions simplify the creation of round components such as circular foundations, walls, and slabs.
For complex planning objects such as columns with corbels, Allplan also supplies clash-free reinforcement proposals. Changes are updated automatically in all drawings and lists, eliminating duplicate data entry.
“ACS is an important platform for meeting customers and prospective users and presenting new trends in CAD planning,” says Peter Mehlstäubler, managing director of Nemetschek Allplan GmbH. The Munich software company will attend this year’s ACS with partners NCC plus, Nemcad, ESS, and Cycot. With around 135,000 visitors expected, the exhibition is one of Germany’s largest industry gatherings of the year.
