Tigerenten Film Box Helps Children Make Films

Young filmmakers can apply for a free Tigerenten Film Box containing editing software, production templates and learning material.

On 29 March, children interested in filmmaking will receive an opportunity through Tigerenten Club. The programme will invite applications for one of the free Tigerenten Film Boxes. The children’s show is supporting young participants in the current annual Tigerenten Club campaign “Eyes Open – Camera Rolling!”, which allows children to submit their own films to compete for the Golden Tigerente.

The Tigerenten Film Box contains the equipment and material a young filmmaker needs. Alongside interactive learning software with an editing program developed specifically for children and the DVD More Than Television – Behind the Scenes of Tigerenten Club, it includes the extensive reference book Switch On Cleverly! Numerous instructions, playful experimental tasks, texts and practical examples guide children step by step toward making their own film. Templates for shooting and production schedules and filming permits provide further practical help. The box also includes a real clapperboard.

Applicants need a good film idea. Children can write or draw their idea and send it to Tigerenten Club by post or email. The editorial team then selects the best submissions and supports their production with a Film Box.

The Tigerenten Club team, film scholar Hans-Michael Bock and neuroscientist Professor Manfred Spitzer were among those involved in developing the package.
