Autodesk Media & Entertainment is presenting 3ds Max Design 2009 in Germany for the first time. From 9 to 11 April, the company will demonstrate the software for architects, graphic artists and visualisation specialists at the ACS Forum during Light + Building in Frankfurt.
Live demonstrations will show how Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2009 works with Autodesk Revit for building information modelling, connecting architectural data with 3D animation, rendering and modelling workflows.
Thomas J. Müller, Territory Marketing Manager at Autodesk Media & Entertainment, said 3ds Max Design 2009 was developed for architects and product designers and would be introduced as part of the company’s 2009 global launch.
The release adds rendering functions, improved interoperability and tools for animation and workflow representation. Reveal streamlines iterative rendering, while the ProMaterials library supplies materials for realistic surface simulation.
Biped receives several enhancements alongside new UV-editing tools. Improved OBJ and Autodesk FBX import and export strengthen exchange with Mudbox, Maya, MotionBuilder and third-party applications. Recognize scene-loading technology improves interoperability with Revit Architecture 2009.
3ds Max Design also includes technology for simulating and analysing sunlight, sky illumination and artificial lighting in support of LEED 8.1 certification.
Autodesk positions 3ds Max Design as a visualisation extension to AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture and Revit Architecture. The workflow can take building designs from Revit into 3ds Max for animation, rendering, conceptual exploration, design validation and visual communication.
For urban and regional planning, virtual buildings can be placed into existing surroundings to assess lighting and their effect on a skyline. The resulting stills and animation can also support property marketing before construction is complete.
Autodesk at ACS
Autodesk is presenting its wider construction portfolio at the event, including technologies for building construction, civil engineering and building services.
Building Information Modelling through the Revit platform is the centrepiece. Autodesk says BIM can connect representations of different variants and construction stages, simulate future building performance and improve workflow, productivity and quality.
