Autodesk Media & Entertainment is presenting itself as the main sponsor of fmx 2008 in Stuttgart. The international conference for animation, visual effects, games and digital media has developed into one of the most important events for Europe’s digital community, and Autodesk is supporting the industry event with even greater commitment than ever before.
One highlight is the visit by Marc Petit, Senior Vice President of Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment division. The executive will appear as a keynote speaker at the event and take time for a series of discussions and presentations.
Another highlight at fmx is the Autodesk Masterclasses. For the first time in Germany, and free of charge, interested participants can choose from a whole range of seminars to pick up tips and tricks from renowned Autodesk Masters.
Autodesk attracts industry gurus for Professional Development Seminar
In addition to the Masterclasses programme, Autodesk has secured two renowned industry gurus for presentations in Stuttgart. Frank Gladstone, President and CEO of Gladstone Film, has 35 years of industry experience in animation and held senior roles at Disney, Warner Bros. and DreamWorks as an animator, producer and director. On Tuesday, 6 May, from 2:00 p.m., he will discuss the past and future of animation in an entertaining presentation. “The History and Future of Animation: Where We’ve Come from. Where We are Going” is a comprehensive survey of an industry in which the “crazy” people call the shots, including an assessment and consideration of all the scene’s trends.
Frank Gladstone will be followed at 4:30 p.m. by R.T. Taylor with his presentation, “Special and Digital Visual Effects: The Past, Present, and Future in a Digital World”. R.T. Taylor is one of the industry’s leading figures and has worked on a wide range of award-winning projects. At companies including Technicolor, Robert Abel’s, Pacific Title and Apogee, he was responsible for work for Sony, NBC, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia, Paramount, Warner Bros., Volkswagen and many others. His appearance at fmx focuses above all on technological achievements and the industry’s most important tools. His presentation covers the foundations on which the industry is built, demonstrates their relevance to daily work in special effects and examines how technology will affect future projects.
Both presentations are free.
