Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest developers and publishers of computer and video games, today announced the development of Tom Clancy’s HAWX (High-Altitude Warfare). The game will impressively exceed players’ expectations of combat in the air. Tom Clancy’s HAWX, which puts the player in the role of an elite pilot of the future, is scheduled for release in autumn 2008. The title will appear on Microsoft’s Xbox 360® Video Game and Entertainment System, the PLAYSTATION®3 Computer Entertainment System and Windows-based PCs.

“Tom Clancy’s HAWX marks the next step in the evolution of aerial combat missions within the Tom Clancy video game universe,” says John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft. “We look forward to conquering the skies and opening up a new gaming environment in which familiar story branches from our successful Tom Clancy brands, such as Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, can be continued.”

Tom Clancy’s HAWX is being developed by Ubisoft’s studio in Bucharest and offers an intense and authentic aerial combat experience thanks to perfect technical adaptation to next-generation hardware systems. The story begins in 2012. As the era of nation-states draws ever more rapidly to a close, warfare undergoes a radical evolution. More and more nations become increasingly dependent on private military organisations (Private Military Companies, PMCs), elite fighters who take the law into their own hands. The Reykjavik agreement finally allows them to intervene in any military operation. Although the advantages of PMCs

are obvious, the first doubts arise about whether they have now been given too much power.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX is the first aerial combat game within the Tom Clancy universe. State-of-the-art technologies, destructive firepower and intense dogfights give this title a worthy place in the Tom Clancy universe. Soon, flying at Mach 3 will go from a privilege to a basic right.

Key Features:

  • ENHANCED REALITY SYSTEM (E.R.S.) – E.R.S. is an in-game technology that trains young aviators to become true elite pilots of the future. The Enhanced Reality System forms the backboan of the HAWX flight experience: radar and missile early warning, an anti-collision system, a damage control system, a tactical map and weapon-trajectory control. E.R.S. also allows players to issue orders to their own squadron, similar to the Cross-Com system in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter!

  • ASSISTANCE MODE – The computer assistant gives players an easier introduction to flight missions. This allows the full technical support of E.R.S. to be used and maximum flight safety to be ensured. When the situation requires the player to unleash the aircraft’s full power, the computer assistant can be switched off, disabling all safeguards. This increases the risk, but advanced flight manoeuvres and dodging missiles in third-person view then become the order of the day.

  • REVOLUTIONARY MULTIPLAYER – For the first time in the aerial combat game genre, it will be possible to play the entire solo campaign in four-player “JUMP IN” co-op mode. In player-versus-player mode, players can compete with up to 15 other participants in intense dogfights and find out who is the greatest flying ace. Winners receive experience points and money to unlock additional weapons.

  • REALISM AND AUTHENTICITY – Players can climb into the cockpits of over 50 well-known aircraft. In these, aerial battles take place over realistic, modern landscapes that have suffered the after-effects of war for years.
