Directed by Jon Favreau (“Zathura – A Space Adventure”), Robert Downey Jr. (“Good Night, and Good Luck”, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes the leading role of multimillionaire Tony Stark, who hunts criminals as Iron Man. Starring alongside him are Gwyneth Paltrow (“Seven”, “Shakespeare in Love”), Jeff Bridges (“The Big Lebowski”) and Terence Howard (“Hustle and Flow”, “Get rich or die tryin”).
Iron Man made his first appearance in the Marvel comic “Tales of Suspense” in March 1963 and has since built a large fan base. His alter ego Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) became a multimillionaire as an industrial magnate in the arms industry. He develops a high-tech, versatile suit of armour that equips him with superhuman strength and abilities. As Iron Man, he is thus one of the few superheroes who has no superpowers of his own, but instead saves the world and fights evil with the help of unique technical inventions (the Iron Man suit).
