Hogwarts comes to life interactively, letting players experience the magical world around the young wizard more authentically than ever before.
“With Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we will set new standards for video game adaptations of films,” explains Harvey Elliott, head of EA’s UK studio. “We are building on the technological advances of previous Harry Potter games, paying particular attention to the unique possibilities of the Nintendo Wii console. The team is also working closely with the filmmakers to create a realistic interactive experience that captures the story, action, suspense and, of course, entertainment of the film.”
“We are working with EA to offer fans a high-quality Harry Potter game that does justice to both the gripping plot and the film’s outstanding visual quality,” explains Scott Johnson of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. “Skilful rendering of the multifaceted story is a hallmark of the game series, and with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we will deliver the most authentic and entertaining video game yet to fans.”

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort’s cruel influence becomes increasingly apparent, and even Hogwarts is no longer a safe refuge. Together, Harry and his friends set about unravelling Voldemort’s secret piece by piece. At the same time, to make matters worse, hormones at Hogwarts are also running wild. Harry feels increasingly drawn to Ginny, while Hermione is jealous of Ron’s romantic affairs. Love is in the air, but tragedies are also looming.
In the video game Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the player returns to Hogwarts to help Harry get through his sixth year at the school. There are exciting duels to fight, magical ingredients to brew, and Gryffindor’s Quidditch team to lead to victory on a broomstick. On the adventurous journey through the castle, the player may even be distracted by Ron’s romantic confusion and entanglements while trying to decipher the Half-Blood Prince’s true identity.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is being developed by EA Bright Light and will be released in time for the film’s launch in autumn 2008 for Wii, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PSP, Nintendo DS, PC, Mac and mobile phones.
