Frank Sliwka, 46, took up the newly created role on July 15, 2008, and is responsible for the global expansion of trade shows and conferences under the Games Convention brand. Peggy Schönbeck, Project Director of GC – Games Convention Leipzig, will continue her work on Frank Sliwka’s team.
Frank Sliwka was part of the founding team of GC – Games Convention in Leipzig. From 2002, he supported the trade show as an external consultant through his company Global Games Media. In 2003, he developed the successful concept for the GC Developers Conference (GCDC), which has since become Europe’s most important developer conference. Since 2007, Frank Sliwka has also served as Conference Director of the GC Asia Conference (GCAC) in Singapore.
Frank Sliwka is a pioneer in computer games. He works in eSports and created the International eSports Conference (ESCONF), the world’s leading international conference for eSports and communities. In 2004, Sliwka founded the German eSport Federation (ESB) and was elected its chairman.
Since its debut in 2002, GC – Games Convention has developed rapidly into the leading trade show for the European games industry. The 2007 event attracted 503 exhibitors from 31 countries, including all major manufacturers and publishers. With 185,000 visitors, it once again broke its own records. Some 3,300 journalists from 46 countries covered the key industry event. International trade visitors accounted for 46 percent of attendance in 2007. GC is accompanied by the GC Developers Conference, regarded by the industry as Europe’s most important developer conference, with 940 conference participants.
Games Convention Asia (GCA) in Singapore is the only trade-show event focused on interactive entertainment, infotainment, edutainment, hardware and technology for the Asia-Pacific region. Following its successful 2007 debut with more than 70,000 visitors, the second event will take place from September 18 to 20. GCA is accompanied by the Games Convention Asia Conference (GCAC).
