dc days Architecture Special: “Interactive Environments with Open-Source Software”

In “Interactive Environments”, architectural-software specialist Wolfgang Höhl demonstrates the correct use of free software in architectural visualisation.
A black and white double exposure portrait of a man, with one side showing a close-up of his face and the other a profile view. The background is light and subtle, emphasizing the layering effect.

While the first day of the digital creation days is devoted in detail to 3D, the second day focuses on visualisation. Presentations and seminars cover product, industrial and architectural visualisation.

The organising team is pleased to announce architecture specialist Professor Wolfgang Höhl as a speaker. After an overview of real-time visualisation options, Wolfgang Höhl will show how to work with three free software packages. Participants will learn which hardware is suitable and which system requirements must be considered.

Professor Wolfgang Höhl studied architecture at Vienna University of Technology and completed his doctorate at the University of Hanover. He worked as an architect at von Gerkan, Marg + Partner Architekten in Hamburg and was a research associate at the Technical University of Munich.

Today he lectures in 3D visualisation at universities of applied sciences in Germany and Austria and writes for specialist publications. His dissertation was published as a book entitled “Media Cities — Urban Planning and Communication Theory”.

His publication on augmented reality for architectural visualisation was nominated for the 2006 Inge Morath Award for Science Journalism. He received the 2004 Design & Nature Award, presented during the conference of the same name organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology and the Office of Naval Research Global, and served on the scientific advisory board of the 8th European Passive House Conference at Danube University Krems.
