The Cluster Audiovisual Media (CAM) is supporting the HDF Kino e.V. initiative “Digital Cinema Roadshow” in Munich. Cinema operators and theatre managers will receive a practical introduction to digitalisation in a one-day seminar at the Mathäser Filmpalast on 24 September 2008.
The seminar covers the following topics:
- Description and demonstration of the cinema workflow, including installation of a functional server in the auditorium
- Integration into existing automation installations and cinema networking
- Practical report from everyday cinema operations and a question-and-answer session with experts from technology, distribution and exhibition

Presentation and distribution of the requirements specification and network checklist
“The digitalisation of cinemas in Germany is an important issue that remains controversial within the industry. The transition from analogue to digital film projection will happen and should take place in a way that enables as many cinemas as possible to make this important step towards modernisation. With its intensive information programme for the industry, the HDF roadshow is intended to advance this process. Joining HDF as a partner in this effort fits the Cluster’s objectives exactly, which is why we are pleased to support the roadshow as an important service for Bavaria’s cinema industry,” said Cluster spokesperson Klaus Schaefer.
The Digital Cinema Roadshow seminars have taken place at various times and locations throughout Germany since August 2008. The Munich event is the only one in Bavaria. Participation costs €90 per person plus VAT, and attendance is limited to 40 people per event.
