Avid Supports RED

“We are pleased that the next step lets us formalise our collaboration with RED,” says Kirk Arnold, EVP of Customer Operations at Avid Technology. “Many of our customers have already created RED projects with Avid systems because we provided transitional solutions that made it possible to work with Media Composer, Symphony and Avid DS. We will, of course, continue optimising workflows for the RED SDK.”

Avid editor Jason Diamond of New York-based MBS Productions recently completed a music video shot with a RED ONE camera and edited on an Avid Media Composer system. “Everything went like clockwork,” Diamond said. “For the finish, we needed an aggressive and, above all, varied look, with strong contrasts to match the dance-rock sound and a band that appeared retro. No problem with the Avid system!”

Avid customer Michael Forrest of Post Box Productions has also produced an entire series of commercials shot on RED and edited on an Avid DS system. “Our workflow was completely tapeless,” Forrest says. “My assistant loaded the new footage directly into Avid DS every evening, and I started editing every morning. It was an extraordinary workflow. I had absolute creative control from beginning to end.”
