dc days Architecture Special: “Interactive Environments with Open-Source Software”

In “Interactive Environments,” architectural-software specialist Wolfgang Höhl demonstrates the correct use of free software in architectural visualisation.

While the first day of the Digital Creation Days trade show is devoted extensively to 3D, the second day focuses on visualisation. Presentations and seminars cover product, industrial and architectural visualisation.

The organising team is pleased to announce architecture specialist Professor Dr-Ing. Wolfgang Höhl as a speaker. After providing an overview of real-time visualisation options, Höhl will demonstrate how to work with three free software packages. Participants will learn which hardware is suitable and which system requirements must be considered.

Professor Dr-Ing. Wolfgang Höhl studied architecture at Vienna University of Technology and completed his doctorate at the University of Hanover. He worked as an architect at von Gerkan, Marg + Partner Architekten in Hamburg and was a research associate at the Technical University of Munich.

Today, he teaches 3D visualisation at universities of applied sciences in Germany and Austria and writes for specialist publications. His dissertation was published as the book Media Cities—Urban Planning and Communication Theory.

His publication on augmented reality for architectural visualisation was nominated for the 2006 Inge Morath Award for Science Journalism. He received the 2004 Design & Nature Award, presented at the conference of the same name organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology (WIT) and Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG), and served on the scientific advisory board of the eighth European Passive House Conference at the University for Continuing Education Krems.
