This year, more than 50 participants submitted film entries they had created to New Age compositions. Fourteen were selected for the final round. From these, the international expert jury selected three films in each of the Animation and Digital Film categories for the final decision. The winners will produce an animation or digital film project worth €1,000 each for TietoEnator. The elaborately staged awards ceremony took place yesterday, with actor Manuel Cortez, known from “Verliebt in Berlin,” hosting the program at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. Pekka Viljakainen, Executive Vice President, Digital Innovations, TietoEnator Corporation, sent a greeting to the gala participants by video message.
The nominated entries came from students in Hungary, Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom. The international jury comprised experts with academic and practical backgrounds in digital media, art and design. The previous SL:MIMA winner, Christian Hein, who is currently producing a project for TietoEnator, also served on this year’s jury.
“All the nominated entries impressed us with their high degree of creativity and brilliant technical execution. We congratulate the winners, who prevailed in this exceptionally strong field of participants,” said Pekka Viljakainen. “SL:MIMA is distinguished by its creative event concept and the voluntary commitment of students to organizing it. That is why we are proud to have been able to present the award again this year.”
