Shortly before Christmas, HIS is launching four modified HD4870 models. The IceQ4+ cooler has been revised again and equipped with optimized heat pipes. The flagship of the enhanced 4870 cards is the HD4870 IceQ4+ Turbo with 1GB of GDDR5. As standard, the card features a 4GHz memory clock and a 770MHz GPU clock, making it one of the most powerful 4870 cards on the market. The IceQ4+ Turbo models are available in Germany from December 15, while standard-clocked IceQ4+ cards will follow somewhat later.

Many gamers have been waiting eagerly, and now the time has come: just in time for Christmas, HIS is introducing modified IceQ models based on HD 4870 GPUs. The redesigned IceQ4+ coolers have been tailored precisely to the requirements of the HD4870 to provide optimum overclocking potential. The enhanced cards are aimed primarily at gamers and enthusiasts seeking high-resolution, highly detailed 3D graphics.

The GPUs in the HIS HD4870 IceQ4+ models feature a 256-bit memory interface and GDDR5 memory in 512MB or 1GB capacities, enabling particularly fast access times. The cards have 800 stream-processing units, which optimize graphics performance especially for modern shader-intensive games. They support DirectX 10.1, Shader Model 4.1, 24× custom-filter anti-aliasing and 128-bit HDR. The new CrossFireX technology can also operate up to four GPUs simultaneously in a quad-GPU configuration.

The latest HIS cards also provide extensive multimedia and HD-video features, allowing users to transfer the PC image to a television in top digital quality. HDMI support has been improved particularly strongly compared with the previous series. A digital 7.1 audio signal can now be transmitted via HDMI. Using the GPU, the new Unified Video Decoder (UVD 2.0) can upscale conventional DVD films to HD resolution at 1080p.

IceQ4+ cooling technology:

The new IceQ4+ cooler has been improved once again over its predecessor. The modified heat pipes primarily optimize GPU cooling. The GPU and graphics-memory heat sinks are insulated from one another to prevent heat transfer between the components.

Like its predecessors, the new IceQ4+ cooler is a powerful dual-slot fan that expels heated air directly from the PC case. IceQ4+ coolers significantly increase the graphics card’s overclocking potential and lifespan. As with all IceQ systems, airflow throughout the PC case is also optimized, benefiting other components such as the CPU and power supply.
