NVIDIA has signed a tools and middleware licensing agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) for PlayStation 3 (PS3). Under the agreement, registered PS3 developers can now download and use the NVIDIA PhysX Software Development Kit (SDK) free of charge through SCEI’s developer network.
NVIDIA is also now a Tool Solution Provider for the Wii console, allowing registered Wii developers to use the NVIDIA PhysX Software Development Kit as well.
The NVIDIA PhysX SDK consists of an API and a robust physics engine for real-time physics calculations. It enables game developers to represent the physical interaction of objects much more realistically and create exceptionally lifelike game worlds.
The PhysX SDK for Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and all major gaming platforms is available under licence directly from NVIDIA.
