While film fans had been creating parodying low-budget shorts for Panasonic’s “Papp-Helden Video Contest 2009” since April 1, the company assembled its jury behind the scenes. From August 20, seven video experts from events, film and media would select winners from the monthly public-vote winners and wildcard entries. The Papp-Helden Video Awards offered prizes worth a total of €40,000.

The seven-member jury—including satirist Oliver Kalkofe, Proximity COO Detlef Rump and Paramount Managing Director Sven Sturm—would decide the “Best Film” award. Up to four members of the winning team would fly to Los Angeles the following year for a Paramount Pictures world premiere, including flights and four nights’ accommodation. Panasonic also awarded the best film a product package worth €3,000.

Winners in the acting, costumes, camera, and sound and effects categories received Panasonic product packages worth €1,500 each. Up to four people from each team would attend a German premiere of a Paramount Pictures film the following year, including accommodation.

The three best school entries received Panasonic equipment worth €1,500 for their schools. The three best university entries shared €6,000 in prize money. Audience members voting for each month’s Papp-Helden could win Panasonic camcorders.
