Marketing & Sales: New marketing tools, new target groups & new ways of monetization
Traditional marketing models and target-group definitions are increasingly falling behind. Free-to-play, advergaming and the strong trend towards online games require more sustainable strategies that also engage more closely with existing communities. At the same time, the growing diversification of online audiences and users of platforms such as Wii makes communication more difficult. Which strategies can identify and specifically address these new groups?
Production & Development: Next platforms and new business models
Facebook and iPhone, online services such as Steam and current consoles give developers new opportunities to publish their products directly and independently. Online distribution and platform convergence will continue to increase both opportunities and risks for developers. Which formats will become stronger, and what will that mean for development and production?
Transformation & Research: Technical drivers
The current console generation is gradually entering the later phase of its life cycle. Technical elements such as physics are now standard in many games. New interfaces such as thought control and consoles that emit smells already exist as prototypes. Which technical concepts will shape game development in future? Which technology will be most important in five years?
