Every two years, the comic world meets in Erlangen. In more than 20 years, Germany’s largest and most important comic festival has contributed substantially to comics becoming accepted not only as a mass medium but also as an art form — one that, like hardly any other, mirrors society and measures social change — and becoming fit for the ‘salon’. The hallmark of the Erlangen Salon is that it brings art and commerce, mainstream and avant-garde together in an event representing every variety of the ‘Ninth Art’. More than 20,000 visitors are expected in Erlangen from May 22 to 25, 2008.
