Quantel now offers Marco, its editing system for field use, in a V4 edition. The move to version 4 gives the laptop system a range of additional editing features, with Marco complementing Quantel’s integrated Enterprise sQ systems as a mobile partner in news production. Marco V4 is already in use at several broadcasters in Europe and Asia, which have welcomed the upgrade.

Marco provides reporters and editors in the field with the same user interface and menus as the sQ editor systems. Quantel’s laptop technology gives travelling reporters the same creative and productive capabilities they have when working with an sQ Editor in the broadcast studio. The advantages of the V4 software allow current reports to be produced even faster and more creatively while on location.

Marco V4 offers:

• V4 Essence Driver technology for processing new formats such as P2 and XDCAM

• A timeline that can mix different formats using Quantel’s Resolution Co-Existence technology

• A multilayer timeline for placing different edit versions above one another

• Single-frame repair tools

• Integration of storage, fast-forward and rewind functions
