The animago AWARD is the animation industry’s most important award and has been presented for 13 consecutive years. This year it is supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The awards ceremony will take place in the film city of Babelsberg for the first time. The ideal venue has now been found in the fx.Center, located in Mediencity Babelsberg.
The building’s architectural design - created by Japanese architect Sin Takamatsu - makes an overwhelming impression. It offers exclusive office and technical space for high-end post-production. Three studios, two cinemas, additional event venues, and a bistro complete the available facilities.
“The animago AWARD and its associated animago CONFERENCE have found a new home here,” says animago Project Manager Matthias J. Lange. Through support from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, animago has moved from Karlsruhe to Potsdam.
Across a total of 1,118 square metres in the state-of-the-art, architecturally unique post-production complex, three comprehensively equipped studios are available for film, television, and advertising productions. The conference room and Studio fx1 specialise in film and visual-effects recording, with features including a surrounding rail system, an extraction system for pyrotechnic recording, a 40-metre-wide green screen, and a conference room. The animago AWARD will be presented here. The other studios and the cinema are ideal conference spaces. The fx.Center offers a cinema with 155 seats and a 19-seat screening cinema for 35mm, Super 35mm, and a digital-cinema projector for HD and 2K presentations.
