According to company information, the OB-1 sets new standards in terms of size, weight, power consumption and flexibility. Measuring just 20 x 13 x 10 cm, the device is an excellent recording medium for the digital Sony F23 and F35 film cameras. Weighing only 2.5 kg, the recorder can be battery-operated and is therefore also suitable for use with a Steadicam.
The OB-1 records data uncompressed in 4:4:4 RGB to removable FlashMag™ solid-state magazines. With low power consumption (under 24 watts), the four HD-SDI interfaces allow, for example, simultaneous recordings from two cameras (4:4:4) and stereoscopic 3-D recordings in previously unattainable quality. The removable FlashMag medium has a capacity of more than 30 minutes in 4:4:4 and stores the data redundantly on several levels.
The magazines can be replaced while the device is switched on. The data can be read from the FlashMag through the FlashDock using a touch screen. The video- and file-based data can be transferred through various video and computer interfaces. A 100-240V AC or 22-30V DC supply can be used for power. Various additional devices, such as LTO drives, are available as optional expansions.
