Production teams can work more efficiently with the expanded workgroup capabilities over a Wide Area Network (WAN). Journalists, producers and assistants thus have access to media at any time and from any location.
Production Asset Management – More Flexible Collaboration Anywhere and at Any Time
More than 600 Interplay systems are in use worldwide. Avid has further improved the industry-leading solution for managing production resources and developed the product’s most important update to date: Interplay 2.0. With the new version, broadcasting and postproduction companies can extend work on collaborative productions beyond their own premises. Production operations can be consolidated; projects can also be managed and edited from remote locations. Through streaming proxies for lower bandwidths, members of Interplay workgroups can participate regardless of time and location using a suitable Mac or PC with a 1 MB/s internet connection.
Here are some highlights of Interplay 2.0:
* WAN workflow with Interplay Access: Enables journalists, producers and editors to browse and deploy media assets across multiple workgroups from remote locations. This means it is no longer necessary to return to the editing suite or news broadcaster to compile reports. A new, clearer user interface with three special display modes is available for browsing and logging media and creating shot lists. Everything is displayed on just one screen, and users can switch quickly between views. As a result, more time can be saved and production costs reduced. Broadcaster groups can also achieve functional consolidation by expanding the range of material shared with users in geographically distributed newsrooms.
* Support for FCP workflows (Final Cut Pro): Enables checking FCP media in and out with project links and converting media and metadata in projects from FCP to Avid and from Avid to FCP. Customers thereby benefit from greater platform flexibility.
* Interplay Delivery: Simplifies the previously time-consuming procedure for media transfers. Materials such as subclips and shot lists can now be transferred in one step.
* Interplay Transcode with new mixdown function: Enables complete audio and video sequences to be mixed down when transcoding to a specified output format. This simplifies downstream processes such as archiving or publishing in formats for mobile devices, the internet or digital signage systems.
