With Avid DS version 10.3, Avid introduces the latest edition of its successful finishing solution. The solution combines advanced effects, compositing and graphics functions with new features that enable real-time finishing and accelerate rendering of common file-based formats. Avid DS has also been optimised to support RED, 2K and ARRIRAW projects as well as the RED Rocket card. This accelerates the decoding of R3D files and thus relieves the CPU.
With the help of Avid DS’s new features, postproduction companies can manage their file-based project pipeline more effectively because system requirements during ingest and conforming are greatly reduced. The new functions include:
Native conforming from Avid Media Composer for R3D and ARRIRAW files: This function enables the immediate restoration of complete timeline information, including effects, titles and colour corrections, for real-time playback and faster rendering. The new version also supports the RED Rocket accelerator card and ARRIRAW file format. This allows DS artists and creative teams to draw on previously assembled effects. The programme thus provides greater confidence when implementing the original creative vision. Project turnaround from offline to online is accelerated because users benefit from real-time functions corresponding to a standard video- or film-based media workflow.
AVX2 support: This function offers an easy route to completely conforming visual effects previously created in Media Composer and Avid SymphonyTM editing systems. Customers can thus use the complete creative-effects toolset at every editing stage with a new AVX2 plug-in interface. This also allows Boris FX and Sapphire effects from any Avid offline project to be used in Avid DS.
